Christened by her Owner’s as Laurentia, Hessen Yachts, a Dutch superyacht builder, was proud to deliver the 55m/180’ yacht in 2017. The award winning Hessen Yachts is a world leader in aluminum construction with a focus on custom-built yachts having the highest standards of luxury and performance. Laurentia sports a steel-hulled Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDFH) and was known as Project Alida.
Her sea trials reportedly exceeded her contractual speed with an impressive 16.6 knots in moderate sea conditions. Large rudders and a powerful steering unit contributed to her responsive steering commands that will be the envy of any navigation crew and captain. Frank Laupman of Omega Architects was responsible for the exterior design of Laurentia. With an angular profile, she has a distinctive look and just in line with the bridge, an overhanding angle that lends to her unique character and style. Roman Alonso at RADYCA, a Miami-based design firm, was selected for the interior design and was asked to create a luxurious, relaxing, and tranquil atmosphere. The builder tells us that natural hues are used throughout the yacht and include open-grain white oak, different tones of wangé, taupe, grey leathers, and light textured suedes. White Arabescato and Grecale brown marble slabs are used as a contrasting elements; darker tones with hand-stitched leathers are also incorporated into the overall décor and adds interest to the complex arrangement of light and darker colors. Customized loose furniture was selected from European and American brands and was designed to perfectly match and complement Laurentia’s elegant style. Her Owner’s plan to make her debut at the highly acclaimed and much anticipated Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) this month. MYS will feature 125 extraordinary one-off superyachts built by the world’s most respected shipyards. Laurentia’s sister, M/Y Home, will also be presented at the MYS. It is a place to enjoy the iconic Port of Hercules while visiting yachts, exhibitors, business partners, and friends.
