Dufour 19m D63 Exclusive Sailing Yacht

For more than half a century, France’s Dufour Yachts has successfully catered to megayacht clientele. Both its Performance and Grand Large ranges have been popular and received considerable acclaim. First unveiled at BOOT Duesseldorf in 2017 as a part of the Exclusive line, the 63 was also welcomed with acclaim, reaffirming Dufour’s reputation for excellence. Even in the large hall, it was evident the 19.20 meter 63 and the Exclusive line itself were imbued with the same design and performance ethos that graced the brand’s custom work.

One of the many ways Dufour has distinguished itself over the years in their custom work has been their distinctive monohull construction, which maximizes rigidity yet reduces weight by incorporating the lightest composite materials. Dufour again reimagines the characteristic lines used in its larger models to repeat past successes in its decade-long collaboration with Brescia-based Felci Yacht Design in Italy. In the Exclusive semi-custom model line, the same design was integrated, and the resultant stability and low drag make the 63 ideal for offshore cruising.

Dufour engineers have also further elevated the design by pairing it with a powerful Volvo Penta 180 hp engine as standard. This enables her to reach cruising speeds of 11 knots, guaranteeing the highest capacity of strength and sailing performance for this model. The Penta 230 hp is an option if you want to upgrade. The freshwater tank capacity is 780 liters, while the diesel engine tank holds up to 830 liters. Buyers can choose between the furling mast or v-boom or, if racing is more their speed, are able to select the carbon mast along with performance sails. Total sail area upwind is at 202 m²; downwind, it’s 368 m².

A full carbon roll-bar ensures safety at anchor, along with performance on long sails. Organic delineations between leisure and work areas on deck reference the consistently careful balance between optimal livability and true functionality. Thoughtful attention has been paid to the helm stations at the stern, integrating flush, widescreen displays that don’t impair visibility. Of course, there is an abundance of customizable controls available to integrate at the stations with every option from winches and thrusters, to underwater LEDs. With equal credit paid to both Italian and French design style, astute ergonomics take center stage here, as much as hydrodynamics does beneath. When anchored, an added aft platform provides added space for sunning, and the remote-controlled gangway offers easy access aboard. Dufour’s trademark barbecue makes an appearance in an exterior galley atop the generously sized tender garage, maximizing the livable space outdoors.
