Pointing the way with crisp curves streaming from the razor sharp bow, Feadship’s superyacht Arrow flies straight and true. Exhibiting all of the most important qualities of a Feadship, Arrow’s sculpted exterior profile has been on display around the globe since launch. Logging 51,000 nautical miles, Arrow owns an impressive range of itineraries.
The hush of exclusivity surrounding the interior, however, has protected the more intimate details from the public eye, save for those who have had the privilege of spending time on board.
NAVIS is pleased to share what we’ve learned from our friends at Feadship about this bold, contemporary yacht, delivered in 2020, yet still very much in vogue among the superyachts of today. Impressive technology, efficient systems, and stylish decor that is as chic as it is livable, Arrow is ready to reveal the features directly inherited through Feadship’s exceptional DNA.
By the Numbers
Marking two firsts, Arrow is the owner’s first yacht, which is a milestone in itself. It is also the first collaboration between Jonny Horsfield of London’s H2 Yacht Design and Feadship. The project scope and intricate details on Arrow make such firsts a rather historic achievement.
Bow to stern, the yacht stretches 75 meters, placing Arrow in the middle range of Feadship yacht lengths. Arrow has a 12.9-meter beam and a 3.8-meter draft. A steel hull and aluminum superstructure ensure safe and solid passage over the long term, with both interior and exterior lines drawn by H2. Powered by a pair of MTU 16V4000M53 1840 kW engines, Arrow has a top speed of 17 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots, delivering a range of 5500 nautical miles.
Arrow’s hybrid propulsion is aided by a waste heat recovery system, rather unique for its time, to reduce carbon emissions. The yacht has served as the frontrunner in that regard, setting the bar for every Feadship to follow. The recovery system delivers hot water for hotel systems, the Jacuzzi, and even deck washing. Backup systems were installed at the captain’s request, but have yet to be needed.
On the tank deck in the engine room, catalytic converters are located on the mezzanine, scrubbing gas emissions and earning Tier III certification. Three 245 kW Caterpillar generators are quietly tucked into sound boxes so effective one can carry on a normal conversation while standing next to them.
All of the piping and fluid lines are mounted with an eye toward minimizing noise and vibration, upon particular request from the owner. The systems in the engine room are designed to be spacious and accessible, with every pump, valve, and manifold located above the polished deck plates. With each small system set into its own zone, superyacht engineers find this arrangement superior to anything designed to date.
Arrow provides accommodation for twelve guests in six staterooms, served by crew in 12 cabins. Bow hull garages with fold up hull doors to both port and starboard are designed to carry a 10-meter tender, a 9-meter tender, and a 6.2-meter rescue /work RIB tender, along with an assortment of personal watercraft.
Arrow features a Jacuzzi tub, well-equipped gym, hammam, massage room, cinema, and a beach club with fold down platforms that transform the space into a most appealing waterside nightclub.
The Main Deck
Boarding Arrow from the stern gangway, stairs to port and starboard welcome guests to the aft deck on the main, with expansive sun pads and a pair of sofas wrapping twin tables. Large glass sliding doors open to the oval-defined spaces that link the three areas of the main saloon.
The first and furthest aft oval is formed by two beautiful white curved sofas. Facing each other, they are placed at a 45° angle nudged toward port, with a pair of posh armchairs and a clutch of small tables. A pleasant environment, this saloon oval provides a fabulous view while serving as an informal meeting space to greet guests without the need to head deep into the yacht.
Further forward, the dining oval is nestled between the air trunks amidships, with clear views of both the cinema forward and the saloon lounge aft. The owner did not feel the need of a formal dining space, instead opting for an open plan connecting three oval shaped saloon areas.
A glass-topped oval dining table with service for 12 sits atop a whale’s tail base. The chandelier playfully employs a pod of swimming rays, executed in copper. Ambient light, as it is in the central stair and throughout the yacht, streams down softly without revealing the source, creating the relaxing, comfortable atmosphere mimicking that of incandescent bulbs preferred by the owner.
Furthest forward in the saloon is a seating oval defined by a deep sofa in plush indigo chenille. Perfect for viewing the 100-inch television screen, this casual cinema maintains a connection to the dining area, keeping all areas of the saloon in touch visually, conversationally, and socially.
Forward of the saloon, the main staircase lobby to starboard with glass lift with stair swiftly moves guests between the lower, main, and bridge decks. To port, forward of the main saloon, a pantry, galley, and stair for crew are strategically placed. A food lift in the pantry and a dumbwaiter in the galley facilitate efficient service.
