Feadship’s Project 1012: A Hybrid Ready for Sea Trials

Feadship, synonymous with bespoke luxury and state-of-the-art maritime engineering, has unveiled its latest creation, Project 1012. Emerging from the construction shed at Feadship’s Makkum facility, this remarkable yacht, designed by Sinot and Feadship De Voogt Naval Architects, is now in the final stages of fitting out as it prepares for sea trials. With its anticipated delivery, Project 1012 is set to redefine luxury yachting with its innovative hybrid electric propulsion and meticulous design.

At 91.80 meters, Project 1012 boasts a crisply chamfered exterior with a traditional flared bow, imparting a modern-classic aesthetic. The exterior styling, significantly influenced by the owner's specific input, combines sleek lines with functional elegance. This meticulous design approach extends to the interior, envisioned as an understated yet luxurious family home. Natural materials and finishes throughout the yacht create a cozy and inviting atmosphere despite the vessel's considerable volume.

Superior Design and Luxurious Amenities

One of Project 1012's standout features is its expansive beach club. Occupying a full quarter of the lower deck, the beach club offers 165 square meters of water-level lounging space. This area includes a large, fixed stern platform and two fold-down platforms, providing ample room for relaxation and water activities.

The yacht’s layout includes a side-loading garage between the engine room and the beach club. This garage houses two 10-meter tenders, a ski boat, and various water toys, ensuring that guests have everything needed for aquatic adventures. Forward of the garage, the yacht features a well-appointed galley, crew mess, and crew accommodations.

Ascending from the beach club, sweeping staircases lead to the main deck aft, where a large pool and open-air lounge await, shaded by the deckhead overhang. Guest suites and staff cabins, finished to luxurious standards, are on the main deck forward, providing comfort and privacy for all aboard. The upper decks house the master stateroom, family lounge, and wellness area, creating a serene retreat for the yacht's owner and their family.

The sundeck, designed as an observation vantage point, features a forward-facing sofa and sun loungers, perfect for viewing panoramic views. The aft deck stores two rescue tenders, ensuring safety and convenience.

Pioneering Hybrid Electric Propulsion

Project 1012 is not just a marvel of design but also a technological pioneer. It is the first Feadship yacht to carry full Hybrid Electric Class notation. This advanced propulsion system incorporates two main engines and shaft-driven fixed-pitch propellers, coupled with PTO/PTI electric motors of 560kW each and a 1MW Li-ion battery bank.

In conventional diesel propulsion mode, the e-motors function as shaft generators, producing electricity to serve the hotel loads or recharge the battery bank. The generators or batteries generate the required electrical power for low-speed navigation, enabling efficient and eco-friendly cruising.

The yacht's propulsion plant and onboard energy management system have been developed using cutting-edge Feadship technology. This hybrid system enhances the yacht's operational efficiency and significantly reduces its environmental footprint, aligning with the growing demand for sustainable luxury in the yachting industry.
