Custom Line: A Horizon of Dreams
Shading outside the lines has always been a specialty of those who sit beneath the fabulous Ferretti umbrella, and this nautical masterpiece is a prime example of excellence. Custom Line already left an imprint of enchantment on the Monaco Yacht Show with their spectacular Navetta 42 – but it was the sleek form and aesthetic intent of the Custom Line 120 that truly caught our attention this time.
Custom 120 is the latest addition to the brand’s line – and is the product of deep imagining made real. Designed initially by Francesco Paszkowski Design and created in harmony with the Ferretti Group Strategic Product Committee under the leadership of engineer Piero Ferrari – the Custom Line 120 stands up to the brand’s ethos that they go beyond the line to create a horizon of dreams.
Yacht Design as Modern Art
One glance at the external profile of the Custom 120 is like a glorious exhale. She is a powerful representation of what clean lines, balanced color, and Italian prowess can create when the imagination is unbridled. She holds her figure like a dancer – with one taut line running right the way from the stern to the bow. Her hull windows are overly generous, and the makeup of light structural grace, glimpses of warm teak, dark tinted windows, and flashes of silver railings altogether serve as a reminder that genius yacht design can be akin to modern art.
An aerial view of the Custom 120 would echo a similar thought pattern. From above that attention to balance ripples right the way through somehow making the 38.36-meter yacht appear equally compact and grand. The design of the hull is what really lifts the profile, and it seems that the Custom Line 120 took her inspiration from the technologies used to create racing yachts. Her structure is all about being light on the toes – using carbon to curate an elegant silhouette that doesn’t rely on supporting prop and bulky additions.
