John Munford

Description

John Munford Design was founded in 1979 by John Munford. The english designer began his career in 1966 as a furniture and interior designer. He studied in the London College of Furniture. He entered the yacht industry after meeting John White, the managing director of Camper & Nicholsons of that moment. This meeting changed John Munford's life. Since he established his studio, he has carried out 70 projects such as Jessica (now Adix), J Class Endeavour, Velsheda, Aurora, Reverie and Archimedes.

He met Summit European marketing manager, Simon Gatliff, at the Nice Boat Show in 1992/93. Summit was very interested in the designer. John Munford became involved in the company in 1993. He started creating different pieces which became the Sundeck range.

John Munford is a true perfectionist. He is really involved in every project and takes care of all the small details. Furniture projects can take as long as yacht projects. The reason behind this is that the design goes back and forth between the designer and manufacturer. An example of this is the design for Summit of the Folding Beach Club Dining Table.
