Baglietto 52m Akula

The Baglietto Akula International Premiere

Akula means many different things to many different cultures. In the world of yachting, it is all about Baglietto’s June 2024 launch of their third T52 hull which recently enjoyed a Monaco Yacht Show premiere.

The Baglietto Akula employs elegant design strategies to create a civilized escape on the sea. Understated and casual, Akula welcomes guests with spacious layouts that dovetail aesthetics with comfort in clean style.

Akula By The Numbers

Stretching stem to stern, Akula measures 52.32 meters with an 8.94-meter beam and a 2.75-meter draft. The yacht accommodates 10 guests in 5 cabins served by 9 crew. Two Pullman berths provide for additional guests.

Exterior design was drawn by Francesco Paszkowski Design of Florence. Interiors were fashioned by Enrico Gobbi at Team for Design in Venice.

Akula has a propulsion system powered by two CAT C32 engines. The steel hull and aluminum superstructure weigh in at 496 GT, capable of a maximum speed of 16 knots. At a cruising speed of 11 knots, Akula can cruise 4,500 nautical miles.

Akula’s deck plans are perfect for the charter market, offering comfortable quarters and a myriad of personal watercraft and toys. Available for charter through IYC, Akula is planning to offer itineraries for Mediterranean summers and Caribbean winters.

Powerful Exterior With Understated Luxury

Lean, strong lines sweep fore to aft on Akula’s dark grey hull, suggesting power and confidence. From generous windows throughout the yacht, an abundance of natural light graces the interiors, strategically controlled by owner preference. Francesco Paszkowski, founder of the design studio that penned Akula’s exterior, has more than 30 years of experience with Baglietto and has designed for the best and the biggest yachtbuilders, with Baglietto yachts among them.

Efficient use of space in soothing palettes and chic materials forms the basis of the Enrico Gobbi Team For Design interiors. Styled in a cream and grey palette, with either yellow and gold accents or variations on colors of the sea, set against the teak decking serve to connect indoor with outdoor architecture. The minimalistic yet posh environment throughout the yacht interprets abundance that understates luxury in a tasteful style.

With three levels on the open stern, the beach club sports large sun pads, a pool, and a lounge area with nicely upholstered sofas and tables. The sun pads are mid-level, with a step platform that opens and lowers to the sea.

Steps above the sun pads, the transverse pool offers a broad view of the horizon. The pool floor raises to create a flush-deck, adding to the already large lounge space on the aft deck.

The Main Deck

Entering the main deck salon from the aft deck, the artful lighting fixtures perform dual duty, shining beautifully in geometric shapes tossed across the ceiling. Beneath them, a long stretch of cream on the sofa invites guests to settle among the plentiful cushions. Elegant side chairs and tables, embellished with golden Murano glass vases, art, and sculptures expressly designed for this yacht, add to Akula’s personality. Access to the lower deck from the salon stair leads to a full gym for an energizing workout while enjoying the view through a large window opening to the sea.

Forward of the salon to port, a bar, a pantry with dumbwaiter, and fast commercial dishwasher, galley, and crew stair give crew what they need for premium service. The galley has a deep fryer, induction cooktop, steam oven, and gas burners. Forward of the salon to starboard, the lobby, central stair, day head, and hall lead to the forward owner’s cabin.

Entering the suite from the starboard side, the full beam master displays seating areas to port and starboard, with a central king bed. Large windows and glass balustrades emphasize ocean views. There is a drink fridge in one of the lockers, a walk in closet, and large media screen.
