La Spezia, Italy – January 28, 2025 – Italian yacht builder Baglietto has launched L’Instant, the first-ever DOM133 model to feature a hybrid propulsion system. This milestone marks the beginning of a busy year for the shipyard, with eight new yachts set to debut in 2025. L’Instant blends cutting-edge technology, sustainability, and Italian craftsmanship, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in luxury yacht design.
Hybrid Propulsion: Power Meets Sustainability
At the core of L’Instant’s innovation is its advanced hybrid propulsion system, which integrates a diesel endothermic engine with an ultra-compact hybrid unit. The system features two Caterpillar C32 ACERT diesel engines compatible with HVO biofuels. These biofuels, derived from renewable energy sources, can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 90%, significantly minimizing the yacht’s carbon footprint.
The hybrid unit serves a dual purpose: it functions as an electric propulsion motor for silent cruising and as a shaft generator to optimize fuel consumption on long voyages. This not only extends the lifespan of the traditional diesel gensets but also enhances efficiency. In full-electric mode, L’Instant can remain at anchor for up to nine hours with zero emissions—an impressive feat in sustainable yachting.
Beyond its propulsion system, L’Instant incorporates sustainability into its very design. The yacht’s interiors feature carpets and fabrics crafted from recycled ocean plastic and regenerated industrial waste. This focus on eco-conscious materials showcases Baglietto’s dedication to reducing environmental impact without compromising luxury.
Customized Design with a Personal Touch
With exterior styling by Stefano Vafiadis and interiors by Leonardo Santi, L’Instant fully expresses its owner’s vision. Unlike standard DOM133 models, this yacht’s layout has been reimagined to maximize comfort and functionality.
A notable modification is the relocation of the galley, which is traditionally on the main deck but has been moved to the lower deck in favor of an additional VIP cabin. Both the VIP suite and the master stateroom feature automated windows for natural ventilation, reinforcing the yacht’s emphasis on energy efficiency. Custom-made opening portholes in the guest cabins further enhance airflow.
Another standout feature is the redesign of the internal staircases, ensuring seamless connectivity between all decks. The sundeck, which would typically house a pool area, now boasts a fully equipped outdoor gym. A multi-purpose bar, fitted with a dumbwaiter, enhances service efficiency and elevates the yacht’s entertainment potential.
Ingenious Space Optimization
Integrating a hybrid system required additional technical space, prompting innovative design solutions. The 5.8-meter tender and two jet skis have been relocated to the upper deck, forward of the wheelhouse. A specialized 16 Kn (1,600 kg capacity) davit has been installed to facilitate the smooth launching and retrieval of water toys, ensuring both convenience and functionality.
L’Instant’s interiors reflect a refined yet warm aesthetic, featuring a harmonious contrast of light eucalyptus and walnut. Neutral-toned upholstered furniture, accented with touches of turquoise—a color personally selected by the owner—creates an atmosphere of understated luxury.
Furniture from renowned Italian brands such as Flexform, Cassina, Vitra, and Softhouse adorn the yacht’s living spaces, emphasizing impeccable craftsmanship and high-end design. These elements come together to deliver a sophisticated, welcoming ambiance tailored to the owner’s preferences.
Performance and Capability
In terms of performance, L’Instant reaches a top speed of 17 knots using its diesel engines and nearly 10 knots in full-electric mode. This dual capability ensures power and efficiency, making it an ideal vessel for various cruising experiences.
Baglietto, a name synonymous with excellence in yacht building, continues strengthening its reputation with projects like L’Instant. The company specializes in crafting high-performance aluminum yachts between 38 and 50 meters and steel and aluminum displacement mega-yachts over 40 meters.
With two state-of-the-art production sites in La Spezia and Carrara, Baglietto is scaling up operations, including investments in military crafts through its Baglietto Navy brand. Additionally, the company is expanding its Bertram Italian line, with new models under construction.
