Royal Huisman has unveiled its ambitious Project Lotus, which will, as the yacht builder says, be an 'original and bold blueprint for the next generation of superyachts.'
Featuring an 88-meter two-mast DynaRig and a 70-meter motor yacht that will be expedition-ready, the idea is to provide owners with the opportunity to discover and explore coastlines and oceans around the world in style and luxury.
However, the yacht builder states that what they are offering is not a sailing yacht with a support vessel.
Instead, their concept is to deliver two vessels that are designed, built, and then operated in an integrated manner to provide the most comprehensive range of superyachting experiences ever offered to owners.
The project has been created in conjunction with ThirtyC Yacht Design and Dykstra Naval Architects, who will work with Royal Huisman's construction and engineering teams to deliver the yachts, which will feature state-of-the-art design and construction ideas.
Going to transform superyachting
Royal Huisman says they are going to transform superyachting into a 'dynamic and fluid way of life,' rather than the experience clients come to know where yachting is a static and structured experience.
Essentially, the Lotus sailing yacht will have the capabilities of being a competitive vessel and serve as a capable long-distance explorer with an easy-to-handle sail plan.
She will also have an eco-friendly power management system on board and uncluttered deck spaces.
Her masts will be equipped with solar technology to capture sunlight to turn into power when needed.
Along with a pop-up cinema, she will have a large pool on the foredeck to enjoy, and there is space for two tenders to be hidden onboard.
The interiors will also feature cutting-edge design ideas using high-quality materials and textiles, including an interior grand skylight that will offer a vertical view of the yacht's impressive DynaRig.
Lotus motor yacht
The Lotus motor yacht has been designed to integrate with the sailing vessel's itinerary, rather than being a standalone exploring yacht.
The aim is to expand its cruising partner's capabilities with endless deck space and extra accommodation for guests and crew.
The vessel has been designed to host technical staff, including doctors, pilots, relief crew, and guides to ensure that any expedition is as educational and as safe as it is possible to be - while offering luxury comfort to guests.
She is designed to carry a fleet of tenders and toys, among them a submarine for underwater experiences, and there are also full helicopter capabilities. The helicopter will be stowed safely in the onboard hangar whenever she sets sail.
Royal Huisman says they have received lots of interest for Project Lotus after the concept received its world premiere at this year's Monaco Yacht Show.
