The interior style tends towards the traditional, with 1920s influences giving a lighter feel. A honey colored hue predominates, with lots of stained cherrywood paneling offering a splendid backdrop to the owners' Greek-themed art pieces. The refined balance between functionality and form ensures that guests rarely encounter the staff discreetly serving their every need. And the magnificent elevator services all four social decks, rising to the sun deck observation area.
Archimedes' relatively conventional layout makes the most of her considerable volume and 12-meter-plus beam. All the social spaces are huge in size and yet at the same time intimately welcoming. Comfortable settees abound in the main lounge, with a grand rosewood piano hinting at the timeless pleasures of simply being together. Between eight and twenty guests can be seated in Archimedes' unforgettable dining room. The gorgeous table is made of the finest cherrywood and complemented by matching ebony and satinwood chairs. A giant bronze edged dome shines a light on the proceedings and adds to the glamour.
Archimedes is the first Feadship to feature a fully functioning wood-burning fireplace. Taking the home-away-from home motto to new lengths, the entire interior layout was based upon facilitating this singular request in the owner's study. Another eminently cozy location to reside on the bridge deck is the beautiful sky lounge with its elegant bar and various seating arrangements.
Greek mythology is the theme of the exceptional hand-made mosaic marble floors in all the main bathrooms and powder rooms onboard Archimedes, including of course the marvelous 'his' & 'her' bathrooms in the master suite, where Poseidon and his wife Amphitrite adorn the floors. The Estremoz marble used on the tops, walls and window sills completes the picture. The full-beam master bedroom is also divided into various relaxation zones, with the large central bed being flanked by a lounge to starboard and table and chairs to port. The latter area also plays host to a sumptuous lady's writing deck especially hand-made for the owner's wife. The deployment of an equally subtle selection of fabrics and upholstery adds to this room's ambient atmosphere.
Archimedes will rarely be found in the traditional megayacht marinas. Her ice-strengthened Corinthian blue hull is designed to head for far-off places, where her Matterhorn white and silver superstructure will dazzle those who see her.
Aft of the owners' stateroom on the main deck is the VIP family suite. Stunning, handcrafted mosaic seahorses grace the VIP bathroom floor. And the warm and inviting family study is a lovely place to reflect on another hard day's cruising.
There are six guest staterooms on the lower deck. All have an individual color and fabric theme within the overall cherrywood template. The different bathroom floors feature Greek galleys, the seahorses Hippocampus, dolphins and octopuses. From the fine furniture to the luxurious lighting, the peaceful ambience within all the staterooms makes for a very comfortable residence.
The panoramic views need not be interrupted by tenders even when underway as these are lowered into their own wells using an electric/hydraulic lift system. The wave runners and other watersport toys have their own garage and are launched from the port side.
The centerpiece of the sun deck aft is the large and spectacular marble mosaic Jacuzzi. This is an unprecedented work of art in it's own right, bringing a new meaning to water colors. Adjacent is a wonderful outdoor entertainment area with a bar and lots of casual dining options. An enclosed gym is situated further forward with spectacular views to enjoy whilst working out.
One of the most popular social areas on Archimedes is the bridge deck aft, with windbreak doors and sliding glass panels providing extra shelter from the elements. Formal dining is available for up to twenty people on the extendable table and there are various other options for relaxing the day away.
However wonderful the design, however smart the technologies, however amazing the amenities, it is the phenomenal standards of finish that only Feadship can provide which ultimately set Archimedes apart. Inventive thinking combined with a philosophy of perfection do full justice to the man after whom this splendid vessel is named.
