The third annual Singapore Yacht Show started on Thursday 18th until Sunday the 21st at the One 15 Marina Club – Sentosa Cove. This year the event had doubled the number of first-class shipyards exhibiting their vessels.
On the first day of the event, the organizers threw a grand opening party, welcoming the public to a showcase of magnificent superyachts, luxury cars, fantastic property, private jets, contemporary arts and high fashion. With a huge selection of boats and yachts there is an enormous variety for everyone. The favorite was the I Dynasty, which is a 59.3m motor mega yacht built by Italian Benetti. Some of the superyachts displayed are Azimut, Swan, Beneteau, Lagoon, Princess Yachts and Marquis Yachts.
The exclusive Gala dinner
At night, buyers, brokers, exhibitors and VIP guests were invited to an incredible gala evening at The Great Room in the West Singapore – Sentosa Cove. The event started at 7pm and every guest was welcomed with a delightful glass of champagne and some exquisite canapés from the hotel´s chefs. While everyone was enjoying a great time, a beautiful string quartet played their music.
At 8pm all the guests were driven into The Great Room in which they tasted four different dishes. Meanwhile, there was a silent charity auction of three very unusual bottles of Piper-Heidsieck champagne and a live display of Lotus Arts de Vivre jewellery by some of Singapore's most gorgeous models. Two incredible bands played their music for the crowd: Vox from The Singapore F1 Grand Prix and Youth Olympics and Men in Groove.
At last the prestigious Helm Singapore Yacht Show awards were delivered. The M/Y Tanvas received the best superyacht motor category and S/Y Shamoun the best superyacht sailing category. Princess Yachts received an award for the best brand collection, Wider Yachts for best cutting edge design and last, S/Y Twizzle took the environmental award.
The show goes green
This year, the Singapore Yacht Show featured a great variety of eco-friendly boats and luxury yachts. S/Y Twizzle is a great example of this growing trend. The yacht was especially made to be environmental friendly and carbon neutral. Also, on the process of constructing the yacht, the brand tried to neutralize the emissions of carbon.
Another excellent example of eco-friendly superyachts is the Asian yard Kingship Marine with its 44m Green Voyage Project. This enormous superyacht mixes a powerful motor with low emission of carbon. This incredible boat truly represents low impact motor yachting.
Ocean Quality Systems introduced its catamaran 60ft Frers-designed Explorer C-60. This model brings together the best of the motor and sailing yachts. This beautiful catamaran has a green option which includes solar energy and an option of low emissions of carbon and fuel.
The third annual Singapore Yacht Show became the region's premiere lifestyle event.
