The St.Barth's & Newport Bucket Regatta will now be in new hands. Recently, Perini Navi, Royal Huisman, Vitters and Rybovich announced their stewardship of this renowned sailing event.
The St.Barth's & Newport Bucket Regatta started in 1986 with only seven competing yachts, but it has managed to grow over the years until becoming one of the cardinals superyacht sailing event's worldwide. What has really made this possible is its distinctive characteristic of good old fashion fun, accentuating the importance of camaraderie rather than pure winning; this is its main appeal and the main concern of the previous owners when passing the leadership. It was crucial to stress out the significance of maintaining the "Spirit of the Bucket". Luckily for them, four long term supporters and industry colleagues, with wide knowledge about these events, have taken charge.
The new owners have clearly stated: "As the new custodians of the St.Barth's and Newport Bucket Regattas, we cannot emphasize enough that our sole objective in taking this initiative is to ensure that the special character of the Bucket is preserved for owners, their guests and crew, now and well into the future. The Buckets will continue to be an opportunity for great racing in great venues, where socializing and networking, rather than sales and marketing, will set the tone for the industry professionals who participate". Furthermore, they have decided to maintain Peter Craig, an emblematic personality of these races, as Event Director and Race Chairman.
These four nautical eminences where warmly welcomed by the core group of loyal and current Bucket sponsors. Times are changing, but we have faith that the essence of it all will be preserved; only growth and good things can come from here on.
