Heesen Project Ayla, christened White upon her February 8, 2018 launch, was sold in October 2017, and delivered in April 2018 after successful trials in the North Sea. The 50-meter aluminum semi-displacement yacht is the latest in the award-winning 5000 class, just below the 500 GT threshold. Responsive and exceeding speed expectations, the yacht's performance pleased all.
Large rudders combined with a power steering unit, powerful bow thruster, and specialized selection of props optimized White for her speed range, instilling confidence while maneuvering in tight spaces and difficult conditions. Heesen's experience in weight reduction placed two high power-to-weight ratio MTU 2880kW engines in White, delivering a maximum speed of 23 knots and a 3,100 nm range at a cruising speed of 11 knots. White was also notably quiet in vibration tests.
The first opportunity for Heesen working with Abberley Luxury Yachts forged a good relationship, prompting Abberley to comment, “This is the moment we have been looking forward to, and the most satisfying stage of the process for us. We are delighted with the results of White’s sea trials and await the shakedown cruise with her Owners with much anticipation. We are positive that she will bring them many years of wonderful adventures at sea.”
Exterior styling by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects is complemented by the chic 'new deco' interiors of Cristiano Gatto set the yacht apart with a sophisticated minimalist feel. Bespoke furnishings created by Gatto appear in the main salon and sky lounge. High gloss ebony, beautiful Canaletto walnut, Hermès and Loro Piana fabrics and upholstery, and luxurious finishes are displayed with a neutral palette from pristine white to deep, rich browns and all shades in between.
With four decks there is plenty of space to enjoy the outdoors, but the 70 sqm sun deck is exceptional. Shaded dining on the upper deck and a main deck terrace that joins with the salon for a 25 sqm entertaining space offer additional options.
