The Stats
Built-in 2016 at Abeking & Rasmussen’s German yards, Cloudbreak is adventure made simple, but no simpler. The muscular profile and sophisticated details from the accomplished and insightful hand of Espen Øino give the steel and aluminum yacht an authoritative presence at 72.25 meters/237.86 feet. Although well-connected in Monaco, Øino was born amid the Norwegian fjords, imprinted early-on with the importance of the view forward as well as upward. Paying homage to nature’s remote features, Cloudbreak owns an abundance of outdoor real estate on all decks, al fresco beds for stargazing, and massive glazing for peerless views.
The hull boasts an ice belt and an internal wave breaker to confidently wander the world in search of mountains to climb, ski, and snowboard, or waves to surf and underwater worlds to discover. Cloudbreak’s long hull lines and internal wave breaker contribute to her efficient operation, affording 8,750 nautical miles at 12 knots, upping to 15 knots when prompted. Massive windows, artfully positioned ports, and posh grey exterior crisped by white superstructure reinforce the yacht’s calm stable presence.
Well thought out Interiors collected and curated by Paris architectural firm Christian Liaigre. The head of the Liaigre yachting division, Guillaume Rolland, delivered posh, clean, comfortable spaces across all decks. Using nature’s color palette, embellished with rich organic textures and surfaces, the effect is one that perfectly dovetails purpose with aesthetics.
This exceptional quality build by Abeking & Rasmussen is evident upon focused review, but perhaps most impressive are details unseen. Soundproofed and appointed to perfection, the engine room tucks away two 16-cylinder Caterpillar workhorses behind an imperceptible concealed door. Soundproofed compartments keep the generators working without a moment’s disruption for guests. A deck layout directing guests from the beach club, sauna, and gym to the guest and crew cabins required careful engineering with particular attention to ventilation. All concerns were beautifully addressed by the experienced team at A & R.
