The 30.5-meter Morgana has left the boatbuilding yard of Southern Winds in South Africa for her new passionate and experienced yachting owners.
She has been designed to cruise all over the world and because the owners are enthusiastic about bluewater cruising - and entering superyacht regattas - she has also been designed to top racing podiums.
These are also the reasons why the owners of the Morgana selected the Southern Winds Shipyard for their project.
Handed over to her new owners
She was launched just six weeks before being handed over to her new owners and the exterior and interior design was carried out by Nauta Design, while the naval architecture was designed by
Reichel/Pugh Yacht Design.
Nauta Design's Mario Pedol says the design is 'sexy' and 'appealing'.
He added that a 'modern, aggressive, and sporty look' for the exterior was also important - though ensuring that the Morgana fulfilled these desires while still being performance-oriented and comfortable home away from home, 'was not easy'.
Mario said: "Achieving a perfect balance between these three — for us, fundamental — ingredients involved not less than 3,000 hours, from the initial design concept to the smallest detail of the interior and deck design."
Morgana has a forward owners’ suite
To help with life aboard while cruising, Morgana has a forward owners’ suite where they can enjoy a saloon/TV room when entering the yacht from the cockpit.
The Morgana also has two guest staterooms and, unusually, there is also a tender garage - which is something rarely seen on sailing yachts.
Marco Alberti, Southern Winds' general manager, said: "During the six weeks between the launch and the handover to her owner, we've fine-tuned the systems and honed the details of the deck and interiors.
"But, most of all, we’ve tested her by sailing in all weather conditions. It was amazing how light she felt at the helm sailing at 16/17 knots. Powerful and balanced, aboard Morgana I always felt in complete control."
Done more than build a custom yacht
Marco says that he believes the boatyard has done much more than build a custom yacht - they have created an efficient custom yacht.
The design and construction of the Morgana saw cooperation between the designers, the project manager, and the yard to find the best balance between innovation and well-proven, reliable technologies.
He added that she also represents the latest in sailing yacht technology from the work by Nauta Design.
