Nautor Swan's Skoripios take victory of monohull line honours of this year's legendary Rolex Fastnet. The impressive team conquered outstanding achievements in their competitive debut facing 337 yachts, starting the team's history with an enormous victory. Led by Dmitry Rybolovlev, the team crossed the finish line at the elapsed time of 2 days, 8 hours, 33 minutes, and 55 seconds for the 695 nautical mile course.
Nautor Swan has been established in the sport for decades; founded in 1966, we could only expect the utmost from their Skorpios team. However, they have outperformed even the highest of expectations for their first race showcasing once again Nautor Swan's spotless performance in the sport of sailing. The Skorpios team are the epitome of Nautor Swan's iconic elegance, quality, innovation, and reliability, making them all the more fascinating. Reflected also in the "beast" of a boat they elegantly maneuvered in Rolex Fastnet, which, much like the team is pristinely new, only released in July at the BTC Yard in Pietarsaari. At the sweet melody of victory for the monohull line honours Giovanni Pomati took a heartfelt moment to graciously thank the international team that contributed towards this historic achievement.
The Skorpios performance was nothing short of astonishing throughout the entirety of the Rolex Fastnet. The weather conditions continued to be challenging since the beginning of the race, but the Skorpios powerful form swiftly carried them towards a soaring lead, yet still shadowed by other competitors keeping the team from getting overconfident. Such lead was remarkably extended by the Skorpios as they headed towards the Fastnet Rock, accelerating their path to their victory in monohull line honours. Shortly after their moment of victory Skipper Fernando Echavarri humbly explained, "we had an idea of what the boat might be able to do, but we didn't know for sure, so we learned a lot on this race."
Hopefully, such learned knowledge will soon bring another marvellous performance from this charming team. Until then, we shall continue to celebrate and thank this spectacular team for making the emblematic Rolex Fastnet 2021 all the more exhilarating.
