Formerly known as Project ALIBABA, DRAGONFLY showcases cutting-edge design, innovative engineering, and an unparalleled blend of luxury and practicality. Designed to cruise the globe efficiently and style, this yacht represents the culmination of four years of meticulous craftsmanship and collaboration among leading designers and technical teams.
Exterior and Interior Elegance
The yacht’s striking exterior is the work of Germán Frers, a revered name in naval architecture. DRAGONFLY exudes power and sophistication, with sleek lines that balance forceful design with timeless appeal. Frers emphasized creating a vessel with enduring aesthetics rather than following transient trends, resulting in a yacht with global appeal.
The interior and exterior social areas were envisioned by Nauta Design, whose President, Mario Pedol, described the process as an exciting journey of blending atmospheres and lifestyles. From the outside decks to the interior spaces, every element of DRAGONFLY reflects refined elegance and provides breathtaking views. Key exterior features include a glass-bottom pool on the main deck, a feature that combines stunning visuals with entertainment, and an innovative double-folding platform system at the stern. This system creates a versatile beach club area with direct water access, enhancing the yacht’s appeal as a lifestyle destination.
Luxurious Amenities and Features
With an interior volume of approximately 9,500 gross tons, DRAGONFLY offers expansive spaces designed for entertainment, relaxation, and functionality. The main deck features amenities such as a cinema, spa, and water sports center. In contrast, a dedicated business deck accommodates a large office, a gym, a games room, and even a helicopter hangar. These thoughtful inclusions make DRAGONFLY a vessel for luxury and a versatile space for work and leisure.
A standout feature is the glass-bottom pool, which offers a unique experience for guests and is a visual centerpiece of the yacht. Pioneering Diesel-Electric Propulsion
DRAGONFLY's heart is its highly efficient diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system, developed by Lürssen’s in-house engineering specialists. This advanced system incorporates twin diesel engines that drive two controllable pitch propellers through individual gearboxes. These are equipped with PTI/PTO units for electric propulsion or energy generation, enabling peak efficiency and environmental performance. An electric Azimuth Pod Drive enhances maneuverability and efficiency, making the yacht an engineering marvel designed for seamless global cruising.

Design and Collaboration
DRAGONFLY's delivery represents the culmination of a collaborative effort between Lürssen, Germán Frers, Nauta Design, and Y.CO. Charlie Birkett, Co-founder and CEO of Y.CO, expressed pride in his team's role in coordinating the project from concept to delivery. DRAGONFLY joins the Y.CO Yacht Management Fleet, further underscoring its status as a showcase of innovation and craftsmanship.
The project also marked a milestone for Lürssen, the fourth significant delivery in 2024. Joining DRAGONFLY in the shipyard’s remarkable portfolio for the year are LUMINANCE (138.8m), KISMET (122m), and HAVEN (82m). Together, these deliveries reflect Lürssen’s commitment to excellence in yacht building.
