Missing-sailors-Ocean-Bound-search-efforts-US-Coast-Guard-Mexican-navy

The search for three missing American sailors and their sailboat off the northern Pacific coast of Mexico has been suspended, according to the U.S. Coast Guard. The sailors, identified as Kerry O'Brien, Frank O'Brien, and William Gross, have been missing since April 4, sparking a massive search operation that spanned nearly 200,000 square miles. The decision to suspend the search comes after the combined efforts of the Mexican navy, known as SEMAR, and the U.S. Coast Guard failed to yield any evidence of the sailors or their vessel.

The three sailors had embarked on a journey aboard their 44-foot boat, named Ocean Bound, from Mazatlán, a city on Mexico's west coast, with the intention of reaching San Diego. The voyage was expected to include a stop in Cabo San Lucas, a popular destination approximately 224 miles from Mazatlán. The sailors were supposed to report their progress and location on April 6. Unfortunately, there is no record of the mariners reaching Cabo San Lucas or checking in at their intended stop.

As the search efforts for the missing sailors and their boat continue to draw attention and concern from the international yachting community, the families of the missing individuals remain hopeful for their safe return. The case highlights the inherent risks associated with sailing, as well as the importance of the collaboration between the U.S. Coast Guard and the Mexican navy in addressing maritime incidents in the region. The search may be suspended for now, but the story of the three missing American sailors remains a poignant reminder of the dangers that sailors face while navigating the open seas.

Phantom Syntopia Rolls-Royce

Rolls-Royce has once again pushed the boundaries of innovation, craftsmanship, and luxury by creating the Phantom Syntopia, the most technically complex Bespoke Phantom ever produced. This masterpiece was created in collaboration with the renowned Dutch fashion designer and haute couturière Iris van Herpen, known for her work in biomimicry, a design principle that takes inspiration from patterns and shapes found in nature.

The Phantom Syntopia takes its name from Iris van Herpen's landmark 2018 collection, which features a series of highly sculptural garments brought to life through movement and seeks to represent the elusive, ethereal beauty of fluid motion in solid materials through its ‘Weaving Water’ theme. The car's exterior is coated with a one-off Liquid Noir paint iridescent in sunlight, revealing undertones of purple, blue, magenta, and gold when viewed at different angles. This effect was achieved through a new technique for applying pigment to the clearcoat, which took several months of testing and validation to perfect.

Upon opening the coach doors, the eye is immediately drawn to the Weaving Water Starlight Headliner, the most technically challenging version of this signature Rolls-Royce feature ever produced. This headliner was crafted using a single sheet of flawless leather selected from over 1,000 hides, and features a silver ‘liquid metal’ texture made from woven nylon fabric used in Iris van Herpen’s ‘Embossed Sounds’ collection. It is finished with 162 delicate petals made of glass organza, applied by Iris van Herpen’s couture team members who traveled to Goodwood to undertake the work, taking nearly 300 hours to complete.

Orcas Attacking Boats

In recent weeks, Spain's beautiful coastlines have been subject to a surge in orcas attacking boats. The notion of killer whales attacking human-operated boats is an unnerving one, and as yet, there is little known about the motivation for the whales behaving in such a manner.

Experts have suggested that this could result from increasingly frequent boat tours in the waters near Spain's stores, which may be disrupting the orca's natural environment. Unaware of the potential threat, Boats may unknowingly enter the whales' habitat, prompting an instinctive reaction from the animals to protect their home.

EXPV

The 87-metre EXPV concept by Harrison Eidsgaard in collaboration with Feadship was developed for clients who wanted to explore the world while entertaining guests in luxurious comfort. This design takes a fresh and unconventional approach to what large yachts, especially explorers, should look like.

The owner and guest quarters are completely separate, hence the distinctive ‘split’ superstructure with the owner’s private space in the forward section and the guest area aft.

The two deckhouses are served by separate staircases and elevators but they are also connected by a floating Glass Bridge and the Ocean Lounge, effectively an expansive beach club on the lower deck amidships with folding platforms on both sides, an indoor swimming pool and a large skylight in the deckhead above.
